In the year of 1996 the band Galandum Galundaina is born, with the purpose to study, investigate and show the traditional music, dances and the language from the region of Miranda do Douro (the Mirandese plateau, northeast Portugal). The band makes the connection between the elder musicians generation and the younger generation, ensuring the continuity of this region's rich cultural tradition, that for years was about to disappear. The instruments used, reproductions of ancient ones, mantaining their look and resonance, are: mirandese bagpipes, tabor pipes, hurdy-gurdy, war drum, scallop shells, castanets, tambourine, among several others. Besides instrumental music, the band presents repertoire of vocal music, faithfully reproducting the traditional melodies, embellished with sounds, rhythms and harmonies, capable of inspiring emotion and, why not, some modernism. <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/Galandum+Galundaina">Read more on Last.fm</a>.
