There are at least two bands that have operated under this name. An American punk band and a Japanese street punk band. The 80s pop group known for hits such as "Point Of No Return" is called Exposé (pronounced ek·spow·zay).
American punk band
Expose crawled out of a drum machine in Los Angeles in 2019. While the band’s earliest demos, fully written and recorded by drummer Trent Rivas, presented a grimier, heavier sound, the band quickly evolved into something entirely different as it became more fleshed out. Always rooted in punk, Expose grew into a more minimal, noisier sound that reflected the sensibilities of its rotating cast of additional members, a sound more reminiscent of DNA, than previously the Screamers. In the words of Max Nordile (Preening, Debt Rag), the band sounded like “hardcore falling down a mountain.” In its current form, featuring mainstays Jeff Stephens on guitar and James Novick on synths, as well as brothers Jake and Riley Getz on bass and guitar, Expose find themselves hitting a beat somewhere between Glenn Branca and Spacemen 3. The band is tighter and louder than ever and will always be falling down the mountain. They released a 9-track, 15-minute mini album E. in 2019 on the label 5 Star Limo, followed by the 7-track, 15-minute self-titled Expose in 2020. In January 2025 they released ETC on Quindi Records. With 12 tracks and a running time of almost 30 minutes, it could be considered their first full-length release.
Japanese band
Expose was a short-lived Japanese punk/noisecore band from around 1997. They play music similar to Confuse, Gai, and Dust Noise. They released one 3-song ep and 2 songs on a compilation album under the name Expose 82. Read more on Last.fm.
