Biography

Eleventh Symphony was founded sometime in the winter of 1998, from the ashes of such Westside Cincinnati luminaries as Anti-Pro, T.S.F., Nefarious Euthenic, the Defective 5, and others. Four soulless individuals, completely devoid of passion or artistic vision, converged with one goal in mind: redefine the word "pretentious". Already having some limited musical experience, and no other skills at all, it was decided that forming a new band would be the best avenue for this venture. <a href="https...Read more on Last.fm

After several months of clanging around, and churning out room-clearing unstructured noise, eventually the foursome matured into churning out room-clearing intriciately structured noise. With a batch of songs that would inject just enough melody into a ugly hodge-podge of noise to keep the listener engaged while annoyed to the point of physical distress, they entered a studio to record two 7" EPs. With many of their pieces clocking in at over 7 minutes, shorter songs were selected for the session. Soon, the "Stimulate, Destroy, Restore" EP was released on Cobalt Room Records, followed immediately by a split EP with local artist Kendall Bruns. Both offerings were greeted with general apathy, the former soliciting many reviews to the tune of "well, they are indeed doing something new, but I just don't care", and the latter's sole review overwhelmingly negative due to a pseudo-racist promo sheet included with it. Energized by the negative response, the group trudged on, adding keyboards to the ensemble and extensively touring the Northeast USA. With the highways taking their toll on the band's morale, and inner turmoil manifesting itself at several rest-stop knife-fights, they returned home and entered the studio to record the necessary full-length album. Armed with a few new songs, a newly recruited 2nd guitar player, as well as aforementioned material that went unrecorded due to it's length, "A Uniform Infinty Of Homogenous Matter At A Low Temperature" was given birth to several months later. All the songs were recorded in two days; the mixing took weeks and weeks due to the heightened paranoia in the band, stemming from the hard drug use of some members and undiagnosed schizophrenia of another. Already on it's last legs, the band went on one last fateful tour, and disbanded just as their CD arrived home from the pressing plant, in late 2001. The core of the group went of to form Voyageur (aka Ahankara), while other members went onto such projects as Colonel, Noarmsnolegs, They Found My Naked Corpse Face Down In The Snow, and many other bands with funny names. History has been much kinder to the band since their demise. They are credited with pioneering the "odd-core everything-violence" genre, now being played by hundreds of artists worldwide. Thousands of musicians have cited their work as a major influence. Read more on Last.fm.
