Cultura Profética is a Puerto Rican reggae band that debuted in 1996. They have toured in Puerto Rico and across Central America and the United States. Their lyrics rely mostly on socio-political and ecological issues. The band's first album, Canción de Alerta, was recorded in the Tuff Gong studios at Jamaica with Bob Marley's sound engineer. The album was a critical and commercial success with several singles being featured on radio. For their second album, Ideas Nuevas, they started fusing reggae with other rhythms like bossa nova and jazz. This album was released in 2000. In 2004, Cultura Profetica began to focus on the international stage, eventually moving temporally to Mexico. Their fourth studio album, M.O.T.A., was released in 2005 after a tour through that country. On July 1, 2008, the band performed in an event titled "San Juan Nights" produced by a radio station and organized in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Following this event the band planned to continue their international tour. A DVD covering their performance at Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum was released in late summer. Read more on Last.fm.
