Cloudberry is a powerpop three-piece around songwriter Marco Pleil: From 1990 to 1997 he was the leadsinger and bassist of frankfurts pop-punk-trio Strange. They released two CDs and played loads of shows incl. the wellknown Rock am Ring-event in 1996, a supporting tour for the brits Dodgy and shows with Swervedriver and Samba.
In 1999, after the split of Strange and under the pseudonym Cloudberry, Marco released his first solo-demo-ep, then signed to EMI Electrola Records. A single-recording with producer Olaf Wollschläger (Melotron, Paradise Lost) and singer Stefanie Nerpel (Liquido) followed, but for dubious reasons the release got withdrawn. After many demo-recordings and in collaboration with producer Tobias Hahn (LAme Immortelle, Janus) Marco recorded the first Cloudberry-album "Elijah" on his own, established a record-label for (t)his release, worked together with ALIVE distribution and formed a four-piece-live-band. In collaboration with TheFinestNoisePromotion (a vision of bluNoise-Records) "Elijah" was released in April 2003.
In January 2005 Marco signed to german publisher Saint Rich Music (edition of TJ Musicservice). The following March he got to know famous producer Guido Lucas who did faboulous jobs for bands like BLACKMAIL, HARMFUL, GENEPOOL, KEN and SCUMBUCKET. The result of their partner- and friendship was "Destroyer", Cloudberrys second full-length-album which they recorded and produced at Guidos bluBox-studio in Troisdorf/Germany. "Destroyer" was released on the publishers label Saint Records on 22. August 2005. Because of their common musical vision Guido invited Marco to join SCUMBUCKET on their tour promoting the "Kiss Than Kind"-album playing Keyboard and supplementary guitar.
In January 2006 Marco reformed the band with Thomas Wolf (former Tonträger) on drums and Moni Grysa (also in En Transit) on bass and backing vocals, which gave Cloudberry a new face, and finally, a real identity! The third album "Graceful & Light" was recorded at Tonstudio 45 and released in late 2007. Producer of this piece of "thundering melancholy" was Kurt Ebelhäuser (BLACKMAIL/SCUMBUCKET).
In February 2008 Cloudberrys Video & Artworkdirector Sebastian Lübeck replaces Moni Grysa on bass. Cloudberry are currently writing & recording new demos for the 4th album.
