Close to Me is a post hardcore band from Memphis, TN founded in 2009 by Garrett Metts and Taylor Bryant. In 2009, they released a split CD with Adaje. A year later, they released a seven song full-length CD entitled Mother Earth, Father Sky. After releasing Mother Earth, Father Sky, Gavin Mayes, also known as experimental hip-hop artist Cities Aviv, was a temporary vocalist for the band at three shows. Later in 2010, Chance Clement joined the band as the permanent vocalist. Shortly after the lineup change, the band recorded three songs known as Demo 2010. This final batch of songs was released at Close to Me's last show on July 17, 2011 on a limited run of CDs.
