David Mills and Nathan Brenville spend a lot of time talking to each other about music but something always got in the way of a fully realised collaboration until this project came along. The motivation behind it stems from various unusual sources: an abandoned book pitch for a history of the Wirral’s music scenes post-Merseybeat, births, deaths, and learning to drive. These factors provided the inspiration music at once personal and abstract: an existential road trip through their formative years, the pair turning the dials of their car radio attempting to receive a clear signal through the static of lost years. Both Nathan and David now live a long way from the North West of England, where they once called home. This album speaks to that restless feeling of coming and going but no longer quite belonging, the estranged heritage and a dislocated past. Read more on Last.fm.
