Karl Erik "Cacka" Israelsson (born August 23, 1929 and died January 10, 2013) was a Swedish athlete and singer. Cacka Israelsson was best known as a singer, composer and lyricist. He made his radio debut in the early 1950s, appearing in a program called Idrott för ungdom (Sports for Youth). In November 1952, he signed with Odeon and released "Cool Water" and "Gamle Willie Goon" on 78 rpm disc.
Israelsson had his greatest success with Gamle Svarten, which was recorded on September 10, 1954. He toured the folk parks , and even got his own performance at the China Theater. He occasionally performed with his trio which later became a sextet, Western Pop Six. He had a certain fondness for country music and was called by many the "steel grandfather of country" in Sweden, a title he wore with pride. Cacka Israelsson retired from music in 1979 and lived in Uppsala with his wife. Read more on Last.fm.
