There are moments in the studio when a song begins to grow and turns into the big thing it was meant to be. When it is nothing more than clarity, truth and honesty. That is the music of Boy Android: indie-rock that expresses things to capture the imagination; that is both catchy and deep. The four Munich-based musicians recorded their first album in a total of 60 days in the Hahn & Hahn Studio in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany. Added to the classic line-up of drums, bass and two guitars are organ, Wurlitzer, piano, omnichord and banjo. Guest musicians provide the strings and Winfried Wohlbold plays the pedal steel on “Anatomy of a scattered night”. Now walk/run/flee has been released. Twelve songs, all of which stand out due to their demanding arrangements and a fine grasp of melody and lyrics. The love of details and even a certain touch of perfectionism has long been a trademark of this band. Sometimes it just needs a little time until a certain sound falls into place, allowing a song to show its true greatness. Sparing themselves this effort would have been the easy path to take. “It’s easy to smile, but it’s so much easier to fake”, as sung in “How come we don´t dance”. There is a harmony in the music of Boy Android that is only accessible when band members have been friends as long as these four have. Singer and guitar player Hagen Fiedler, guitar player Manuel Rother, bass player Hannes Geiselbrecht and Benni Woche on the drums have known each other since school. After excursions into punk rock and hip hop, they played together for the first time in 2003.
