The story behind Yowie was that it was an extremely underground movement in Floridian Death Metal in the early 90's. Andrew and James googled pirate slang as a basis for the fictinal scene's band names, labels and imagery.
Although all music was poorly recorded by Andrew Galati to sound like a demo from 1993, the band's fictional lineup was:
Blackbeard Thomas - Vocals
Guitar Scurvy Knave - Guitar
Joe Eagle - Bass
Albert Kowhall - Keyboards & Synth
John Nuudman - Drums
The band's fictional biography taken from it's "official" myspace:
Bootstrap Bill was formed in August 1991 originally as a straightforward Death Metal band. Remaining quite unknown, even in the metal underground, save for in their native Jacksonville, Florida, the band released several demos between 1991 and 1994, which displayed an increasing influence of avant garde elements, as well as the showing the heightened technical ability of the band members. The band dubbed their brand of metal "Yowie", after the Australian mythological creature of the same name. As time went on, Yowie began to influence the Jacksonville metal scene and the appearance of several Yowie influenced bands occured, including Liar's Dice, Hornswaggle, Hempen Halter, etc. In 1995 Bootstrap Bill released their first full-length album, simply entitled "Yowie" on Black Spot Records, limited to 500 copies. The album was extremely well received and the band did a short tour of Florida clubs with Hempen Halter following its release. The Band released their second album, "Beggars Need Be Choosers", in 1997 also to critical acclaim. The band has remained relatively quiet since, but are currently planning their triumphant return, to unleash a brutal fucking Yowie assault on the metal scene.
