BOANTHROPE (formely Meggidddo) was formed in late 07, from the ashes of seminal Bletchley/Milton Keynes based bands Chi Champions, Modus Vivendi and Dark Hadou, primarily as an attempt to introduce improvisation into the realm of avant-garde metal. As of summer 08, the band has become a fully operational unit and have begun to shift from the original improvised sound into a more tightly constructed, multi layered compositional form, drawing on a range of influences as diverse as Free-Jazz, Doom, The Avant-Garde and Minimalism, Ambient and World music and Spiritual Prog; combining saxophone, layered vocals, piano and synth onto their three guitar/bass/drum setup. Boanthrope have just finished their debut recording with Paul Ford, containing glimmers of choral vocals and chants, free-jazz saxophone, classical tinged pianos, Vangelis-esque synths, thunderous drums and dirge guitars across four slabs of psychedelic heavyosity.
