Boab is the solo work of Robbie Houston, frontman of the Glasgow post-punk band Sweaty Palms. When Houston started Sweaty Palms ten years ago, he couldn’t play an instrument. This began a devotion to intuitive non-professionalism in all of his work. Boab salvages from the sub-conscious, the most feral feeling through lending an ear to minimal, repetitive cycles. His debut album 'Mothers Pride' was released in 2020 and featured guest appearances from singers Laura St. Jude and Joanie Myburgh, whilst his latest collection of songs, 2024's ‘Open Wider The Door’, is a flinching journey out of the straight jacket of a traumatic childhood into freedom and hope. From the fractured parts of the personality to the erogenous zones of the body electric, his music is laden with the gut wrenching sounds of true renewal.
