1. 4-piece punk from minneapolis. https://bluevenusband.bandcamp.com/ 2. blueVenus materialized in 1998 out of a moment of pure, clear-sighted inspiration. In an instant, singer-songwriter and violinist Andrea de Boer glimpsed the blueprint for her band's name, flagship song and musical destiny. "I realized my music depended on being completely vulnerable and truthful...and that my goal was to take the listeners outside of their everyday reality." Soon destiny would reveal guitarist and composer Devrim Eldelekli, a fellow Berklee College of Music student, who proved to be both a life partner, and an irreplaceable influence on the blueVenus sound. blueVenus performed extensively in Boston, developing their material and intimate performance style before heading to Toronto. It was there, while recording the first tracks of their debut CD at Metalworks Studios, that blueVenus met Juno award winning engineer and producer L. Stu Young (Prince), who dedicated himself to seeing the project through to an impeccable finish, along with producer Iain McNally (former guitarist for Amanda Marshall). de Boer's vocal style has been compared to the hard-hitting emotional sounds of Fiona Apple and Janis Joplin, to name but two. Comparisons aside, de Boer commands an unmistakable, unique power voice that rings true. Coupled with Eldelekli's perfectly intricate guitar licks, the result sounds like something...new. blueVenus is a band that does not sacrifice precision to sound fresh, a band that honours its influences, including SunRa, Ella Fitzgerald, Curtis Mayfield and Radiohead, without ever mimicking them. " ³There is something magical that is created between Andrea and I. We have reached a point where we can simply sit down, start improvising and free-styling, and it will actually sound really good, just like a painstakingly penned and arranged song.² On the self-titled debut CD rated "one of the best albums I have heard in a long time...perfect," by Germany's Gitarre&Bass magazine, blueVenus showcase their skills and trustworthy musical instincts. "Get it Now", the song that won honourable mention in the Billboard Song Contest 2005, is an offering of flawless pop, the kind of song built on foundations so solid it is sure to resonate indefinitely, while "blueVenus" lifts us out of our musical comfort zone and transports us to another world of textured sound. With loyal fan bases established in Boston and Toronto, blueVenus branched out, touring Europe in the summer of 2005. Along the way, blueVenus opened for Garbage and Megadeth at Turkey's RockIstanbul festival, a show that was recorded and played live on Turkey's Dream TV, played the Frankfurt Museumsurferfest and treated the late night audience at the Dreikoenigskeller in Frankfurt to a performance the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung described as "hypnotic and impressive."
