Early life of Blessing:
Blessing Essor Ugbe Okorji was born in Ahoada, Riverstate Nigeria, the daughter of Chief John Ugbe and Tina Okorji, both parents are from Ahoada. She is the eldest of 8 siblings, She is also a mother of two male children. Her talent in singing was discovered when sitting beside her Grandad learning his songs. Although a shy girl, as her mother considered her, Blessing was placed in her community church choir St Mary Church of England at age 8.
Blessing schooled at London Metropolitian University where she marjored in Computer science later diverted to Child phycology. She also has her own childcare business.
Music and Voice:
Blessing has cited various classic artists who have influenced her musical style. She grew up listening to songs of Yolanda Adams and Cece Winans. She also cites influences from artists Sade, Kirk Franklin, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Diana Ross, Mariah Carey and Tina Turner.
Blessing's music is predominantly considered gospel, but has also included genres of R&B, Reggae, African contemporary, Jazz and soul.
Songwriting and producing:
"To manage her solo career , Blessing came into contact with various producers but was blown away by the talents of a young music director Mr Wale Owoade."
Currently Blessing writes all her on songs most of which are inspirational, which she admits are taken from personal experiences, as well as The Bible.
Blessing has co-produced most of the songs in which she has been involved, although she does not formulate beats and melodies herself, she typically comes up with ideas during production, sharing them with producers.
