Belô Velloso, (Santo Amaro, Bahia, 19 August 1971) is a Brazilian MPB singer and composer of several albums. She has been recognized over four times by the New York Times. Belô had been immersed in musical talent at an early age. Her mother, Mabel Velloso is a noted composer and a writer of several books. Her uncle, Caetano Velloso is regardest as one of the greatest songwriters of Brazil. Belô is also the niece of the singer Maria Bethania , another of the nation's music icons. And her grandmother, Dona Canô is considered a gifted singer. Belô commmenced singing in her hometown at 15. Her artistic career though began by singing in various clubs in the city of Rio de Janiero of where she relocated to at 19. Belô released her first album, entitled "Belo Velloso" in 1996. Um Segundo, her second album, received good airing with "A Vida Tem Dessas Coisas" and "As Curvas Da Estrada de Santos". Recently, Belo had participated in a 90 day U.S tour based on the album, "Putumayo Presents: Women of Latin America". It was under the coordination of the U.S. Putumayo record label and direction of Columbia Artists. While on this tour she performed in over 35 cities to an audience of more than 70 thousand people. On this highly regarded album and tour, she contributes a song originally released off her premier album .
