Beat Club is a Los Angeles based musical collective consisting of Jeff Kite (keyboards/vocals), Jon Pancoast (bass), and Anthony Polcino (guitars/vocals).
The band started getting together in the late summer of 2011 for easygoing, weekly jam sessions. After a short time playing together, it became clear that the material being born in these sessions was developing into full-fledged songs drawing from an eclectic palette of influences ranging everywhere from hip-hop to punk rock to world-dance. Once armed with an arsenal of rugged tunes often driven by searing, rhythmic guitars, funky Afrobeat infused bass lines, and airy yet thick synthesizers layered over a booming blend of acoustic and electronic beats, Beat Club had become its own self-assured musical conglomerate.
The band was named after a German music program that ran from the late sixties into the early seventies, as it featured some of their favorite artists from that period and also seemed to quite literally fit with the informal way in which the band itself developed; the weekly meetings as a group were specifically designed to play music over originally programmed electronic beats.
Most of 2012 was spent writing, compiling, and recording what would become their debut release and playing a slew of boisterous shows in the Los Angeles area, earning them early praise from such online outlets as NYC’s Neon Gold Records and their base’s own BuzzbandsLA. Read more on Last.fm.
