BandazZ is an open and evolving musical collective with an Italian heart.
Directed and produced by Massimiliano Lantieri, italian singer and songwriter, it is a sailing project between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, which starts from Italy, crosses Portugal and arrives in Brazil, exploring new forms of musical and verbal language, looking for a connection between different cultures, languages and traditions, apparently linked only by a common root: the Latin idiom.
Each work of the BandazZ is an exploratory journey to these routes, where the musicians who are called to participate bring their wealth of experience and weave a travel story that is different and original each time, about their encounter with culture and Brazilian music.
Bossa in a jazzy dress- is a tribute to the Brazilian popular music (MPB) and to some of its great composers and performers, especially to the creators of Bossa nova, A.C. Jobim, João Gilberto and Vinicius De Moraes and other giants such as Carlos Lyra and Chico Buarque De Hollanda, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, and mythical figures such as sambisti Geraldo Pereira and Cartola and still Carmen Miranda up to the more contemporary Cazuza, "the poet of his generation "to whom a special tribute has been dedicated.
The project saw the collaboration of classical and jazz musicians and singers such as the talented jazz-singer Marta Capponi, the drummer Emiliano Caroselli, the double bass players Riccardo Gola and Guerino Rondolone and the pianist Nicola Benigni, accompanied by Theo Salvitti on classical guitar and Andrés Arce Maldonado at the Tenor Sax, who played some of the MPB classics in their own jazzy style. Read more on Last.fm.
