Hailing from Jakarta and Yogyakarta, BABON is an instrumental trio made up of Rayi, Wahyudi, and Rori. Their music is a rich and layered fusion, weaving together traditional Indonesian genres like keroncong and dangdut with global influences including Middle Eastern rhythms and afro-funk. The result is something distinct and resonant—what they describe as Tropical Desert music. Beyond genre, BABON’s work explores themes of environmental degradation and the deeply human stories that emerge from it.
