1. Ashes were an American post-hardcore band from Bethesda, Maryland. The band’s lineup consisted of lead vocalist Elena Ritchie, guitarist Brian McTernan, bassist Jack Radner, and drummer Matt Squire. 1. Ashes were an American post-hardcore band from Bethesda, Maryland. The band’s lineup consisted of lead vocalist Elena Ritchie, guitarist Brian McTernan, bassist Jack Radner, and drummer Matt Squire. Known for their hardcore-inspired sound blended with early emo elements, the band only lasted a few years, performing their first show in Washington, D.C., in December 1991, and their last in Syracuse, New York, in July 1995, where they disbanded shortly afterward. Ashes recorded two demos, released two EPs, and issued two compilation albums, one of which were Wisconsin Avenue Tour, a complete discography release that was issued through McTernan’s own label, Salad Days Studio, in 1998.

The drummer Michael Nilsson, from another local band (Tavion), showed interest in joining the band after listening to some pre-productions. Before even planning to record the songs and making something serious, Jocke Åsvold (Vocals) invited himself to the band. After making 5 songs, the band recorded a demo wich will be released during the summer of 2011. Marcus Edvardsson (Souldrainer, Aeon, sanctification etc.) handled the mixing job. During the mixing session, guitarist Fredrik Lindh was added to the line up.
13. Ashes is a Alt. Rock / Alt. Metal band from Tomar, Portugal. Originally formed in 1998. In 2001, with a similar line-up to the current one, they started to set their sound as post-grunge. In 2003/2004 several changes happened; a new voice and the introduction of a violin resulted in a change from post-grunge to Alternative Rock-Metal style.
