Advance Patrol is a Hip-Hop group from Malmö, Sweden. The group consists of Gonzalo Rodrigo "Gonza Blatteskånska/Gonza" Del Rio Saldias, Juan Hektor "Juan Havana" Paez Larraguibel, and DJ Lucutz. All of the group's current members are originally from Latin America. Gonza grew up in Lindängen and Juan grew up in Kroksbäck in Malmö. They rap in Swedish, English and Spanish. The group was formed in 1998 but it was until the year 2000 before they become famous in Sweden. The group originally consisted of three more member, these being Rodrigo "Rock-A-Spot/Rocc Spotz" Cifuentes, Danijel "Lilleman/Lillen" Cvetković, and Chafic Mourtada. In 2003, they released their debut album Utskrivna, which became a big hit. They were then considered "Sweden's best Hip-hop right now" according to Aftonbladet's reviewer. In connection with the recording of the album, Chafic tragically passed away, which would have a great impact on the group and which was depicted in the documentary film Gå Loss in 2004. In 2006 came the sequel album Aposteln, which was followed by several gigs around Sweden. Several songs were played extensively on the radio. The group is known for being strongly critical of society and for distancing itself from racism and discrimination. In 2007 came their third album Enligt AP which consisted more of Latin American rhythms. During 2008, the group focused more and more on rapping in their native Spanish language. In May 2009 the group launched the album El Futuro on The Pirate Bay. Gonza explained to DN.se that "we want to reach out into the world and The Pirate Bay gave us the opportunity to put ourselves on the home page that reaches millions of people all over the world. We have tried in other ways, but as it turns out, it is very difficult". The group disbanded some time after the release. Gonza is also known as a presenter in several Swedish TV shows, such as Tracks i TV, Bobster, Rampljuset and Grand Prix. Juan also works for the Swedish Radio channel P3. Read more on Last.fm.
