Adone Zecchi ( Bologna, 23 July 1904 - Bologna, 20 December 1995 ) was an Italian composer and choir conductor. He studied at the GB Martini Conservatory in Bologna under the guidance of Franco Alfano and Caesar Nordio, graduating first in violin and then in composition. He held the chair of Choral Music and Choir, and then Fugue and Composition at the Conservatory of his home town, where he was director during the years 1964 - 1974. He conducted opera (The Barber of Seville, Werther, Tosca) and symphonic works. From 1926 until the 1950s he was director of the "Euridice" choir and in 1930 initiated the Bologna Chamber Orchestra, devoted to modern symphonic repertoire. At the same time a composed and was a music critic. After the war he founded and directed the female Madrigal ensemble "GB Martini" which received acclaim from audiences and critics both in Italy and abroad. Between 1964 - 1974, as Director of the Conservatory "GB Martini" in Bologna , not only did he give considerable impetus to new chairs of non-traditional teaching, but continued to participate actively with several initiatives in the cultural life of his city (music stage, radio and television soundtracks, compositions for chamber orchestra and choral music, educational and scientific publications, concerts, etc) From 1975 he was Artistic Director and teacher of the "National Course Update Choral Music and Choir," which was authorized by the Ministry of Education and held in Ravenna.
