Born in 2004, Abstract Projections is an Indiana-based experimental artist specializing in dense and layered compositions of lo-fi textures, glitched and manipulated samples, field recordings, and many more. He first began releasing music under the Abstract Projections name in late 2019, debuting with the "abstractions" EP. Over the course of 2020, he released numerous albums and EPs, ultimately culminating in the release of the album entitled "the sun" in November of that year. "the sun" was an album marked by soaring and orchestral drones, somber introspection, and blissful optimism, and contained the anthemic ambient/post-rock hybrid of "no exit". He later iterated on the sound with his next album, "the void". Released in March 2021, "the void" saw Abstract Projections using new elements such as string sections, guitars, and even lead vocals on the song "it's not the same". "the void" also saw him experimenting with new genres such as IDM and glitch. Later on in 2021, he released the album "Abstract Projections is Nowhere.", a departure from the sound presented on the previous two projects. The album is marked by an incredibly depressive and pessimistic atmosphere, as seen in the very lo-fi and distorted sonic palette of the record. The album also marks Abstract Projections' first time delving into genres such as harsh noise, shoegaze, and Grouper-esque ambient folk on the song "The end of the road is just a turn".
