Karim Ismail, Myan Mirza and Usman Mirza are 3 guys on a mission! Myan met North Londoner Karim whilst auditioning for parts in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Bombay Dreams” musical in London in 2004. Having heard each other sing, they got chatting and thought it would be really good to form a group with another guy that Myan knew so the 2 guys swapped numbers and went their separate ways. The other guy that Myan knew was Cousin and childhood friend Usman who like Myan, haled from Gillingham in Kent. The 3 of them met up for the first time at a producer friend’s house. They practised singing and before long came to the conclusion that the 3 of them were a hot group in the making so the band was formed. Next came the tricky part, finding a name! After the usual brainstorming sessions and much debate, a family member came up with 3Mix as it accurately told you what the group was about. “A mix of 3 strong individuals who have their own characters and personalities but go together to form a strong and united bond as a group”. Studio sessions started and the first stage of their development was to see whether they could write their own material. Original songs soon started to flow. With major musical influences ranging from Motown legends The Temptations, Michael Jackson to Jatin Lalit, Boyz II Men, Richie Valens, Justin Timberlake, Usher to Punkaj Udass, Teddy Pendergrass to Sonu Nigam, you can see that musically their tastes range from Eastern to Western music. In 2006 they approached the guru behind A&R Records, Aadil Rasheed, the man responsible for delivering the first Worldwide, mainstream multi-platinum Indian artist Raghav. He saw potential in them as act, nurtured the band for 12 months and set to work linking them up with top quality producers and songwriters. This same year they won a UK Asian Music Award as the “Best Unsigned Act”. After 12 months of development the boys signed their management deal with Rasheed Global Entertainment who in turn have now concluded a Worldwide joint venture label and development deal with EMI Records. The label venture is called “Gorgeous Brown”. Through this deal 3Mix will release their debut single in March 2009 called “Put It On Me”. The song was produced by master producer Mushtaq (credits include: Raghav, Sugarbabes, Amy Winehouse) and co-written by Mushtaq and Lee Ryan from hit UK boy band Blue. Gorgeous Brown has the potential and aim to become a kind of Asian “Motown” but hope to take things one step at a time starting with this red hot debut single from the World’s No.1 Boy Band from South Asian origins. Born and brought up in England, 3Mix are the “tip of the iceberg” for this hugely exciting next generation of Asian artists set to pick up the baton and finally deliver the promise from the foundations laid by the likes of Jay Sean and Raghav. Read more on Last.fm.
