Westran was started in 2007 in Kamloops, BC, by Brant Westran. After meeting Adam Robinson, Westran’s lead guitar, Brant was inspired to record a rock album to follow up his 2006 acoustic album ‘Acoustasoul’. With the help of State of Shock producer Tim Neuhaus, Brant recorded his sophomore album ‘3 in the morning’ and released it under the band name 'Westran'.
All 12 tracks were recorded at Tim’s Ear Art Music Studios in Delta , BC. Levi Catroppa, from Burning Borders, lent his steady drum beats to the project, while Brant and Tim laid down guitar and bass tracks. A quick trip home to Kamloops proved to be beneficial when Carol Balas, Icky Pink Music, was kind enough to give some great piano pieces to ‘What did I say’. Finally, Adam came in and overdubbed his screaming leads and solos; the bed was made. All that was needed were vocals. At two songs a day, recording vocals for all 12 songs in just six days was the final victory in a project that was always under the gun for time, but never lacked in passion. From Levi, to Adam and Carol, to Tim and Clayton, everyone involved in this album brought an enthusiasm with them that is evident in all 12 songs. Read more on Last.fm.
