Very Cool People is a jazz-funk, fusion band originated in year 2007 in Rīga, Latvia by guitarist Elvijs Grafcovs. With a backbone in jazz and funk, incorporating influences from rock and hip-hop, Very Cool People are creating modern, complicate and listenable music for wide audience. The band with contemporary tools is trying to put jazz back to dance floor and make it more accessible to ordinary, nowadays persons. In the beginning of summer 2009 VCP released a self-titled debut, which had a great feedback from music critics, bouth jazz & mainstream audiences. VCP’s debut had been nominated in two 2009 Latvian music award nominations- “Best instrumental album” & “Best debut”. From 2010 till 2011 VCP had released several singles, but these tunes are not included in any of bands albums. Most of them features great guest artists with whom VCP have played some nice gigs as well. Two of these singles – Hugo & Cool People’s House – came out with cool video animations made by latvian artists Liene & Maija Mackus(Hugo) and Liene Rubane(Cool People’s House). In October of 2012th band had released their second album "Cruising In The Trolley". This album was nominated as “Best Jazz album of 2012″ at Latvian Music Awards 2012. In September 2015th VCP had released their third album "FUNKOLOGY". FUNKOLOGY was nominated at 2015th Latvian Music Awards as “Best Jazz & Blues album”. It is the bands first live album and features Incredible guest artists: Evilena Protektore – vocal; Dinara Rudan – vocal; Oskars Stolse-Semerovs – vocal & mouth harmonica; Kristīne Prauliņa – vocal; Jānis Stībelis – vocal; Aija Vītoliņa – vocal; Ralfs Eilands – vocal. In April of 2017 band released their forth album "Heya Some Kind of Fish! We Don’t Know The Name Of This Fish In English, But In Latvian It Is Vimbas" is VCP’s fourth album so far represents pieces of a symbiosis between the different allied music styles – funk, soul, jazz, klezmer, Balkan & Latvian folk music. On the 1st of December of 2018 Latvian singers Ralfs Eilands and Kristīne Prauliņa and jazz-funk band Very Cool People are released the joint holiday album "Snowman's Express". The album includes new original songs and self-arranged versions of well-known holiday tunes. In April of 2019 VCP released sixth album "Caution! Contains Words!". Album consists of 12 compositions, of which only one is instrumental. That also explains the ironic title of the new album "Caution! Contains Words!”. Album features guest appearances Kristīne Prauliņa, Evilena Protektore, Edavārdi, ansis, Ralfs Eilands, Hannah Horvath, Erika Székely, Andris Kauliņš. Ten out of the album tunes were written by the band members themselves, and two are cover songs - "Let the Music Take Your Mind”, a tribute to the legendary R&B group "Kool & the Gang”, & “Going Down Slowly”, a homage to the great late music legend from New Orleans Allen Toussaint, who has inspired & influenced VCP. In March of 2020 Very Cool People together with MC's Edavārdi & ansis & latvian soul music diva Kristīne Prauliņa released album "Koncertprogramma Pa Apli". Album consists of 14 compositions, which all are original material.
