Vanessa grew up in NYC and went to college in Boston. Though she learned to play the guitar at age 8, it was while in college in Boston that she pulled out her guitar for the first time to write songs. Some of her first performance experiences were at the open mic at the Speakeasy in NYC and playing solo at coffeehouses in both New York and Boston.
After college Vanessa moved to Denver and earned a doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the age of 29. She used the degree for only a year, before turning her attention to all the other things she had never done…glassblowing, rescuing injured wildlife, being a radio DJ, and ultimately focusing the majority of her energy back on music again.
Lowe has released 5 CDs of original music. Aside from being a performing singer/songwriter/guitarist, Lowe is an independent radio producer and mother to Finn, her own personal tree sprite. She lives with her husband and son in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The East Bay Express pegged Lowe’s music as “dream-pop-meets-indie-folk”, and she doesn’t object to that description. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
