Formed in 2011 in Orange, CA, Two of You was started by Katie Bourland and Hayden Dingman as an experiment in collaboration. Their debut, Floyd Lamb E.P., was recorded between February and May of 2011. The pair had previously written a number of songs separately, but found in each other kindred interests. Together they drew on mutual love of scratchy old records, desert isolation, naturalism, and open roads to craft songs that combine old styles of folk music with modern-day storytelling. Floyd Lamb E.P. merges Katie’s vocals, torn straight from a twenties lounge, with Hayden’s atmospheric instrumentation and production -- frontier minimalism at home in a concert hall. Floyd Lamb E.P. is delightfully sparse at times and richly layered at others, conjuring visions of flannel blankets and rainy days. Their album conveys love and loss in a way that’s reminiscent of faded polaroids. It’s music that brings catharsis. The duo is already hard at work on the follow-up to Floyd Lamb.
