The year.. is 2009. The month.. is july/august.. the day.. I don't know. Four like-minded geniuses and Michael Holloway come together to form a super group of musical excellence. Then one of them leaves. The Skadivers are born. The four originals, Daniel Rhoads, unabashed headman of the group who is said to emit rays of light from his vocal cords, Matt James, an unforgiving conservative who could potentially blast out your brains, Michael Holloway, the love-spawn of Flea and his bass, and Ian Baxter.. yeah.. Ian Baxter.
Over the summer, the band wrote two songs, and covered many many more songs by some random bands that no one who has ever heard of the skadivers has ever heard of. Actually they only covered like two bands, but they covered multiple songs by those bands! When asked why they only covered Reel Big Fish and Operation Ivy, Bassist Michael Holloway responded "I have only heard of two bands in my life. Show me some more and we'll cover them too." He later admitted that the band really wouldn't cover anything that the fans told them to.
Fall came, and with it, Fall Festival. The Skadivers like to forget this particular moment in their history. In short, they played a gig. And the rest.. we will never speak of it again.
Battered and bruised from Fall Festival, the Skadivers regrouped and decided it was time to get serious. The band practices after Fall Festival offered a new challenge, however.. dealing with the two new members. Will Nelms, trumpeter and the most disturbing man alive, and Wiley Lawrence, genitals of the band and.. saxophone? The two members added an interesting dynamic to the band, it's horrifying dynamic. The horns have been seen by true fans as the point where everything started to go downhill.
However, in actuality, the Skadivers started to get better afterwards. They played one show in November, which is seen to some as the defining point in alternative-skindie (indie ska) music in the 2000's. The canal club gig has been described as "incredible" "stupendous" "orgasmic" "wonderful" and "O.k., I guess". There was a lot of dancing and screaming, but not enough bra throwing (keep that one in mind, ladies)
THEN THE SKADIVERS DID MORE STUFF AND NOW IT'S JULY. BUY ROSIE EP, for only 5 DOLLAARZ. Who doesn't have 5 dollars, really. Come on.
