It all began back in December 2009 after the Leeds United home game, outside The Griffin, and after a good few beers. A discussion ensued regarding making a modern day Brentford F.C. anthem. That discussion took place between mutual friends James Franklin, Grant Alderman, Graham Clark, Richard Archer (Hard-Fi), Wolsey White (Hard-Fi Producer) and Billy Reeves (BBC London and ex-popstar). It all began back in December 2009 after the Leeds United home game, outside The Griffin, and after a good few beers. A discussion ensued regarding making a modern day Brentford F.C. anthem. That discussion took place between mutual friends James Franklin, Grant Alderman, Graham Clark, Richard Archer (Hard-Fi), Wolsey White (Hard-Fi Producer) and Billy Reeves (BBC London and ex-popstar). After chucking around a few ideas it seemed that it was just the beer talking and nothing would come of it.
Fast forward to February 2010 and that drunken idea suddenly burst into life. Grant Alderman and Darren Reynolds came up with some lyrics and a tune and a 3 hour rehearsal was planned for the 24th Feb at Backline Rehearsal Studios in Guildford. The anthem then started to take shape: with Grant on Bass, James Franklin on Drums, Jamie Manser on Guitar and Darren Reynolds on Vocals. By the time of the rehearsal Graham Clark had devised extra lyrics along with the song title. During this session it was decided that the track should be released as a download and CD, with the beneficiary to be The Kevin O’Connor Testimonial Fund in honour of his 10 years wearing the famous colours of Brentford FC.
