The Glass Sun Band, Vietnam era, lost in the British invasion local band, from Westland Michigan, made several recordings between 1964 and 1972. Just transfered recordings made during that time period to new CD. The original name of band was The Cyclones, hence the name of the CD Cyclonic Review! The original members, Bruce Roll, Rick Roll, and Danny Sills still are together and playing from time to time today! Bruce is known for his lead guitar work on the bands signiture song, "The silence of the morning".
Danny was, and still is a very talented rock and roll drummer capable of playing most anything, Rick wrote and sang all the songs originally except "know one knows about me", brother Bruce sang that one, then the band chipped in with their talents to make the songs come alive! The band would play on weekends back in 1965 at the Westland Army Navy hall for the weekly Friday night teen dance. Other appearances included the old walled lake casino, and the Westland civic center. As with many other bands of the era the group engaged in local band wars from time to time, actually winning one in Wayne Michigan in 1966. Started recording original songs the in fall of 1964 (For another girl), where the group meet sound engineer Danny Dallas.
Dan sort of took the new group under his wing and allowed studio time to record over the next 8 years in his own studio. The band released two 45 rpm records under Dan's Sound Pattern record lable, the company is still in business today. It was a real journey because of the Vietnam war, Rick Roll went into the Air Force, and his brother Bruce Roll served in the Army. The recordings were made whenever the group could get together. The last sessions made with the help of Mike Cassagrande (guitar) and his brother Bob (keyboard) until brother Bruce could be descharged from the service. Always thought the little group could have done it up big without all the interruptions of the times. What do you think!
