Biography

Ten Past Seven are Matt on Bass, Ger on Drums and Rory on Guitar. Having witnessed the live monstrosity of local Cork bands such as Weevil (RIP) and Rest , they were inspired to create their own blend of instrumental madness. There followed a few weeks of intense writing, in which instrumentals were loudly and violently excreted from the artistic parts of their brains. After they had a small set together they started playing with bands such as Charlottefield <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/Te...Read more on Last.fm

After they had a small set together they started playing with bands such as Charlottefield, Mono, Brood, Noxagt, Berkeley, Giddy Motors, Redneck Manifesto and a shit load of other fantastic bands. There's too many to mention. Originally from Kerry, they started the band in the month of September '02, when they moved to Cork to attend the Music, Management and Sound course in Colaiste Stiofain Naofa. They had been playing with another band called Rift for about 3 years and had enjoyed a little bit of success & did a couple of recordings, including a Dave Fanning Session for 2FM in Studio 8. In April '03 they decided to record the music that they had so lovingly crafted during the year. So time in the college studio was booked and the instrumentals were put to tape using only 8 tracks. Five tunes were recorded live and mixed by themselves in about 3 hours. This whole episode turned into the debut release "onehundredandfiftydegrees" . They burned each CD and cut & glued each cover by hand. To date they've sold over 400 exclusively at gigs. Their debut release on Outonalimb ‘Shut Up Your Face’ (2006) displays the full range of their ability to transfer their raw power and passion to musical expression, combining psychedelic groove, metal and jazzy post rock. On Tuesday March 27th 2007 TP7 and Los Langeros climbed the highest mountain in Ireland, Carrantouhil. Electric and acoustic guitars,a bodhran,a banjo,a microphone were played on the peak all to the amusement of a mountain goat. In 2008 they released a split single simply titled ‘Highest Bands in Ireland‘ exclusively on vinyl with ‘Babe Will You Be Mine’ by the Langers and ‘Anifeiliad’ from TP7. Tenpastseven’s newest single ‘Bothar Buí’ (2010) features vocals by Katie Kim and remixes by Laura Sheeran, Kevin Blake, Toby Kaar and Molotov Ape. The physical copy of the cd has been produced with a limited run of 100 pieces of slate each imprinted with an individual image. They’ve graced the stage with such acts as Lightning Bolt, Dj Scotch Egg, XBXRX, Pelican, Nina Nastasia, Charlottefield, Giddy Motors, La Quiete, Moss, Vaz, The Redneck Manifesto, Noxagt, Electric Eel Shock, Deerhoof, Zu and have summered at Irish festivals Mantua, The Green Gathering, Livestock, Pikey Fest, Bloom Fest, Killkenny arts Fest and more as well as a couple of tours in the UK.
