Spartak is the name of more than one artist (not counting Spartak! and DJ Spartak): 1) Swiss EBM band 2) Australian duo 3) aka Alistair Wells 4) aka Martin Walsh 5) Portuguese band with two tracks in a 2006 compilation 1) Band from Basel, Switzerland, formed in 1988. 2) Improvising duo from Canberra, Australia featuring Shoeb Ahmad and Evan Dorrian. Their sound is rooted in free jazz and micro-sound as well as bands like Fugazi and The Ex, utilising loops and processed melodies to build their songforms from. On any given night, they can work their pieces into ambient passages or post-punk riots.
