Snoddas (1) is a swedish punk-band active in the 90s, the band was formed mostly by Lars Winnerbäck on vocals, Anders Johansson, Staffan Palmberg and Tomas Öhman. the band Snoddas released two cassettes and one CD.
The band split up in 1994 because Lars Winnerbäck was about to study at the university in Kungälv. Today Lars Winnerbäck has a solo career, and Anders Johansson played Hans af Klas in the radio show Wallraff. Anders Johansson is today active as a comedian on Swedish television.
Snoddas (2) is the immensly popular singer Gösta "Snoddas" Nordgren that had his legendary break on the popular tv-show Karusellen, hosted by Lennart Hyland in the 50s. He swept the swedish tv-audience away with the song Flottarkärlek. The performance was success like no artist had had before him, and he was the first in the tv-age to do so in Sweden.
The name Snoddas was a nickname that he earned as a kid, being the son of a salesman that sold fish and condoms (!). This earned his father the name "Gummi-Kalle" ("Rubber-Charlie") and Gösta was awarded the nickname "Gummisnodden" ("the Rubberband", but the swedish word "snodd" for a band in this case is also slang for a "kid"). In time this was abbreviated to "Snodden" and finally Snoddas. Another story refers to his career as a bandy player (the ice sport) in the 40s and 50s and suggests that he was awarded the name for his spinning feints.
Anyhow the name "Snoddas" remained with him throughout his career in which he had many minor hits after Flottarkärlek.
Snoddas recorded many religious songs and often for the benefit of the sick and elderly like his contemporaries Jokkmokks Jokke and Lapp-Lisa. He also toured a lot with Arne Quick (aka Arne "Rosen" Quick) in the 70s.
He is one of swedens most famous domestic stars of the 20th century.
Snoddas died unexpectedly in 1981 at the age of 54 during a benefit floorball game with disabled children in Vänersborg. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
