See What Happens are a 4-piece band hailing from sunny Milton Keynes.
Starting out in Cecil's Garage, June 2009, a collection of friends old and new, all with good musical intentions! Combining elements from all aspects of good music over the last few decades.
DESPITE the lack of confidence their name may suggest, nothing could be more misleading or further from the truth.
Milton Keynes Indie/Rock newcomers SWH have fast become one of their home town's most popular & respected bands through plenty of hard work recently. They have been doing little other than gigging, recording, and generally getting their name out there with an extremely wide repertoire consisting of a healthy mix of their own material & some brilliantly executed covers of some classic pub anthems. However, their recent success & heavy label interest is due in no small part to the excellent, accomplished musicians they have in their ranks (they may not do any Mathcore, but have you seen many bands play "Black Betty" and actually pull it off note-for-note? Didn't think so.)
They exploded onto the scene in 2009, and having a decent number of gigs & headline shows at various venues & festivals throughout Bucks & Northants under their belts, it's only a matter of time before things really will kick off. Unconcerned with modern musical & cultural imagery, their sound is one that blends back to basics good ol' mothaf**kin' R'n'R with a more groovy, epic sound owing to the influence of the more modern genres of Punk, Metal, and even a bit of Emo... (Sorry, Lads!!)
The CD is indeed a worthy effort, and although it is clear there is alot more to come from this band, this EP will stand on its own feet as a decent 5-track addition to anyone's collection, whatever your preference (unless you're into RnB, of course). Although I personally like it much harder & heavier than this, it's impossible not to appreciate and enjoy the songs these guys have come up with, whatever your cup of tea. Which in turn means there are people that would hate what I love, but love this.
Opener "Book in the Breeze" being the highlight track for me, it begins with a funky, catchy, yet somehow still strikingly original riff that then bursts into something surprisingly easy on the ears, complete with almost perfect vocal harmonies throughout the verse. It doesn't get any mellower than "Coming onto airspace", or any heavier than the colossal final track "Calm before the storm". But there is variety here, and there is some old-school feel & some nice old-fashioned tones in "City Reversal".
Having seen most of their gigs locally & elsewhere, I can personally verify that my personal favourite song isn't on here, which is disappointing, but reassuring, as it signals plenty more in the pipeline. Watch out for these lot, and if they play near you, they're definitely worth going to see.
We'll See What Happens!
