Biography
Sakurazaka46 (櫻坂46), formerly known as Keyakizaka46, is a Japanese idol girl group produced by Yasushi Akimoto. Established on August 21, 2015, they were the first sister group of Nogizaka46 within the Sakamichi Series. As of December 2024, Sakurazaka46 have released ten singles, nine of which secured the #1 spot on the Oricon Weekly Rankings. Their latest release, I want tomorrow to come (Special Edition), debuted at #1 on the Oricon Weekly Rankings, selling 487,957 copies in its first week and earning a Double Platinum certification from the RIAJ.
The group is widely recognized for their expressive performances, dynamic choreography, and distinctive artistic style. Their achievements include "Best Japan Act" at the 2021 MTV EMA, "Group of the Year" at the MTV VMAJ 2022, "Best Dance Video" for Start over! at the MTV VMAJ 2023, and both the "Popularity Award" and "Best Musician Award" at the 2023 Asia Artist Awards.
Uniquely among Japanese idol groups, Sakurazaka46 has cultivated a significant international fan base, performing overseas in France, Malaysia, South Korea, and Hong Kong.
At the time of their formation, the group has had a total of 26 original members, comprising 11 first-generation members and 15 second-generation members.
