An impromptu band formed by members of Sham 69 and the Pretenders (minus Chrissie Hynde). While Sham 69 were recording tracks at Polydor Studios in London, Sham 69's lead singer Jimmy Pursey and his friend Jimmy Edwards of Masterswitch had an impromptu jam session with Jimmy Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon, which resulted in an improvised parody of the first single "Public Image" (released 13 October 1978) released by the then-new Public Image Ltd, John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten's followup band to the Sex Pistols. This song "My Own Creation" (recorded sometime in 1979) directly imitates PIL's first single, "Public Image," referencing the Sex Pistols and Malcolm McLaren, and makes deprecating remarks toward Lydon, his career, and his authenticity as an artist. Read more on Last.fm.
