Formed in the UK in 2004, Propaan/Butaan set forth in making the music they wanted to make and distributing it for free on the Internet. Core members of the group include I (formerly 00 Spool) II (formerly Ultravox Spazometer), III formerly Cherubashka), IV (formerly Carlos Conelli), V (formerly Ronald McSplatflange), and VI (formerly Ignatious Bop). The first release from the sextet was the EP "With Or Without Jason Newsted" in August 2004. This EP features a handful of covers of popular songs that were for the most part unrecognisable from the originals. The highlight of the EP was an epic cover of Linkin Park's "One Step Closer” renamed by P/B, "Crawling One Step Closer, Breaking The Habit In The End". P/B's take on this track was part reggae, part noise and pure insanity. Propaan/Butaan followed this up a few months later with the "Christmas 2004 EP" that contained P/Bified Christmas carols and did very wrong things to the classic Cliff Richard song "Mistletoe And Wine (re-named "Absinthe And Wine"). P/B's greatest moment in their young career was ahead of them. In April/May 2005 they unleashed the almighty "Quendo EP" upon the world. Those who heard it hailed the EP as a work of genius. Guest vocalist Paul McDaniel's scathing attack on wife Debbie Joan Magee, "Misogyny In The UK", an obvious highlight and "Cat, I'm a Kitty Cat" could have been a massive hit had Propaan/Butaan cared about selling records. Currently Propaan/Butaan are working on their first full-length album, "The Emo Factory". It will be released late August 2006. The tentative track listing is as follows : 01.
