Persistence of Memory is a project from Nikoli Krakovetsky originated in 2005. Nikoli's instruments are: Guitars, Vox, Drums, Bass, Grand Piano, Clarinet, Harmonica, Bongos, Violin etc. The music tends to be effects-laden, and therefore experimental, with progressive tones that vary from album-to-album. Nikoli has said to be very unique in his sound. The mood, the flow, the emotion can often be quickly recognized as Nikoli's work. Though in the past his works have been associated and labeled with the creations of Steven Wilson, Omar A. Rodriguez-Lopez and Toby Driver. With 50 dollar software, a makeshift beginner's guitar, and a cheap effects processor, the music comes out reasonably professional. The recording techniques, the instrument-use is quite unique and noticeable when listened to thoroughly. For instance, rather than using computer programs {such as MIDI} to create sound-effects; Nikoli uses something like an eBow, or bangs on his guitar, pokes at the pickups and sends it through his little processor. 90% of the effects come from his guitar one way or the other. Keyboards are rarely used because he has a crappy one from the 80s, which makes for some interesting sounds at times. Read more on Last.fm.
