Padmavati Shaligram (born in 1918 in Kolhapur) is an Indian singer and actress. She was trained in the Jaipur-Atrauli tradition by her father and uncle, who were both students of Ustad Alladiya Khan, the founder of this gharana. Performing since she's thirteen, Padmavati Shaligram mostly contributed to the broughter acceptance and respect of thumri among Indian classical music lovers. She has received the: - Sangeet Natak Academy Award 1988 from the Government of India (highest prize for arts in India) - Kalidas Award 1994-95 - Award from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal.
