Owen Hand (born 28 December 1938 in Edinburgh; died: 16 February 2003) was a British singer-guitarist.
It was during his National Service that Hand picked up a guitar. In the sixties he began mixing with the likes of Archie Fisher, Roy Guest and Bert Jansch, and was getting better all the time as a singing guitarist with a penchant for the blues. He always acknowledged the immense influence of Len Partridge on his music at this time.
His first solo performance was at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe of 1962. Hand went on to record two fine albums, Something New (1965) and I Love a Lass (1966).
Later in life, in 1993, he proudly graduated with an MA with Honours in Scottish Ethnology with a thesis entitled "The political influences behind the folk song revival in Britain, c 1950s-1960s". Read more on Last.fm.
