Opwekking is Dutch Christian (Worship) music. Most of the songs are based upon - or translated versions of - English-languaged Worship and Praise songs. The first Opwekking-songs were bundled in a book by Wiesje Hoekendijk, who thought that there were not enough Worship songs among the songs that were usually sung in the Churches. Nowadays there are 710 Opwekking-songs and every year during the Opwekking-conference (with 50 000 - 90 000 visitors) about 10 new songs are released.
