Nurture Nurture is a math rock two piece from Saint John, NB, Canada. The band's discography is largely influenced by artists like Good Game, TTNG, Algernon Cadwallader, and Macseal. The band's instrumentals have been sampled on songs such as 'pity party.' by ISSBROKIE and 'everything.everywhere.and.fuck.u' by Changeline, as well as appearing in other media such as 'Pine Point: Insomniac'. Members Jeff Cook (2019 - present) - Guitar, Vocals Scott Dincorn (2019 - 2021) - Drums Albums and EPs Nocturnal Panic (2019) Instrumentals (2021) Depression Versus (2021) Cynicism (2023) Emergence (2024) Nurture Nurture was formed when Jeff Cook wrote, recorded and produced the entirety of their debut album, Nocturnal Panic, in the month of February 2019. Jeff recorded the vocals and guitar on a budget rig in his bedroom and added drum and bass synths to fill out the mix. Nocturnal Panic was later mixed and mastered by Adam Dincorn. Scott Dincorn joined the band on drums in August 2019 so that Nurture Nurture could begin performing live in 2020. The band played a single show at Taco Pica in Saint John, NB before the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic. During the pandemic Jeff performed all of Nurture Nurture's released material as a solo set on a weekly basis on social media live streams such as Reddit, Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook. Jeff recorded a second album of 10 demos in the winter of 2020 while documenting the process on the band's Instagram profile. Nurture Nurture later released the official versions of these songs throughout 2020 and 2021 as singles, leading up to their now cancelled LP which was originally planned to release in the summer of 2021. The first single, Lonely Habits, was released alongside a Discord server that includes a support group for listeners struggling with addiction or mental health. This was due to Jeff's concern that the lyrical content of the song may inspire listeners to fight demons that ought not be fought alone. They continued to release more singles such as Heart and Panic, and Up There in late 2020, along with Blossom in January 2021. In May of 2021, it was announced that drummer, Scott Dincorn would leave the band and Nurture Nurture would be a solo project run by Jeff Cook. In February 2023, Nurture Nurture released Cynicism, an album that was created as part of the RPM Challenge. This was an expression of midwest emo's influence on Jeff. His immersion in the genre generated the motivation to begin producing for the project anew. Read more on Last.fm.
