Zohran Kwame Mamdani (born October 18, 1991) is an American politician and the mayor of New York City as of 2026. He previously served as a state assembly member for the 36th district of the New York State Assembly, in Queens. Mamdani was elected after defeating incumbent Democrat Aravella Simotas in the 2020 primary. Mr. Cardamom is Mamdani's rap alias, under which he only released one song, "Nani", on April 1st, 2019.
