Mionia (Maija Līcīte) is a Latvian musician, composer and singer from Kuldīga, Latvia. From the age of six she has been learning the piano. Mionia was home-schooled and had grown up in an artist family in the woods of Latvia. Her music and mind live in the vibrancy of her upbringing. Vibrated, delighted, joyful yet stoic and centered. A rooted marooning voice, which is o soever different from typical contemporary artists. After working as a model for four years she graduated from the Latvian Academy of Art. Since 2010 Līcīte has been involved in different musical projects. She has composed music for short films and she has been played at various festivals in Latvia and abroad. During 2015-2016 Līcīte traveled with pianist Lubomyr Melnyk as the opening act for his European tour. At the moment Līcīte is composing songs integrating her voice and nimble fingers on the piano as well as working together with two string ensembles in Rīga and London.
