Michael Lytle was born in 1945 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio, but raised in Springfield, Missouri. His mother loved classical music and opera and was an ok singer, his uncle a tenor and leader of church choirs. He started piano and 5 yrs. old and apparently progressed quickly, then began clarinet at 14. Michael Lytle was born in 1945 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio, but raised in Springfield, Missouri. His mother loved classical music and opera and was an ok singer, his uncle a tenor and leader of church choirs. He started piano and 5 yrs. old and apparently progressed quickly, then began clarinet at 14. He studied clarinet and composition at the University of Wichita followed by masters studies in composition and electric music, graduating in 1968. Over the years, Michael developed what he calls a "set of clarinet sonic modulation techniques" called the "most radical of his generation" by jazz historian, Joachim Berendt and has played in venues all over the world. A short list of his best collaborations have been with Will Parsons, Jon English, George Cartwright, David Moss, Karl Berger, Hans Burgener, Mark Howell, Nick Didkovsky, Gerry Hemingway, Eyal Maoz, Denman Maroney, Robert Dick, Hans Tammen and JD Parren. <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/Michael+Lytle">Read more on Last.fm</a>.
