Meindert Talma (born Surhuisterveen, The Netherlands, 02 November 1968) is a Dutch writer, keyboardist and singer/songwriter, who has recorded songs with lyrics in three different languages: Dutch, English and (his mothertongue) Frisian. He lives and works in the Dutch town of Groningen. In total, Talma released seventeen studio albums: six with his backing band The Negroes (see Meindert Talma & The Negroes), nine under his own name, one album of football/soccer songs with a special backing band named De Rode Kaarten (see Meindert Talma & De Rode Kaarten), one album with The Melisma Saxophone Quartet (see Meindert Talma & The Melisma Saxophone Quartet) and a 2023 project with Dutch singer De Jonge Boschfazant (see: De Jonge Boschfazant & Meindert Talma). His albums released as Meindert Talma are: Kriebelvisje (2003, songs in Dutch/Frisian) Tamango (2009, songs in English) De Zee Roept (2011, songs in Dutch) Kelderkoorts (2013, songs in Dutch) Jannes van der Wal (2016, songs in Dutch/English) Je Denkt Dat Het Komt (2017, songs in Dutch/Frisian) Balsturig (2019) De Domela Passie (2019) Minna (2021) Most of these albums are accompanied by a work of art. Kriebelvisje is also the title of a book of short stories written by Talma. Tamango is also a film: the album of Talma songs is essentially the soundtrack (film and album were released as a CD/DVD package). De Zee Roept is a CD/photobook package by Meindert Talma (music) and Tryntsje Nauta (photography). Kelderkoorts and Je Denkt Dat Het Komt are also autobiographical novels, parts 1 and 2 of Talma's autobiographical memoirs ('Nederlandse Onbekendste Popster', or 'The Netherlands' Least Known Pop Star') with the two albums as musical companions. Balsturig is accompanied by a booklet of articles by Talma himself and illustrations by Edd. For Talma's other works, see Meindert Talma & The Negroes, Meindert Talma & De Rode Kaarten, Meindert Talma & The Melisma Saxophone Quartet and/or De Jonge Boschfazant & Meindert Talma. All of his albums are now listed on streaming platforms under Meindert Talma, so scrobbles for all of his 'Negroes albums' and collaborations may also appear here. Read more on Last.fm.
