The group's name is a combination of the Danish word for cabaret and "Sybarit," an obscure Danish term for male hedonists used in the 1930s.
Several members of group were also part of De Involverte, a Kaizers Orchestra tribute band which eventually transitioned into original compositions, effectively metamorphosing into Kabaret Sybarit in the fall of 2009. They released their first recording, Kabaret Sybarit EP, as a free digital download in May 2010. The EP was released on CD a month later in a print of 500 copies, of which 100 featured discs with a unique, hand-painted design created by Mads Lind. Their next release, the single Pigalle, was released on November 22, 2010.
They are currently planning on releasing a lyrically and musically interconnected trilogy of EPs, which will comprise one whole studio album. Each EP will contain seven songs. Read more on Last.fm.
