Not yet married, not quite famous, not sure whether to hope for either, there's not much to say about Johnathan. He was born at a young age and continues to grow. At the age of four Johnathan's mother printed and laminated a keyboard and taught him to read music and play the piano on a silent piano. Graduating past this imaginative exercise, he began to take piano lessons from Mrs. White a lovable local and organist at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church where Johnathan attended school. Mrs. White was infinitely patient with Johnathan, perhaps it was the imaginative exercises from his earliest years that influenced him, but he would often come to his lessons and when asked to play the piece he'd been assigned he'd play some delightfully childish variation, to which he would receive the gentle criticism, "that's lovely, but not what I assigned you."
As most who grew up in the south, Johnathan's primary musical influence came from his religious background. In his youth he played in various Christian groups, but continued to develop his own style and write independently. Though no longer religious, Johnathan credits the religious zeal that always accompanied music in his childhood to the soulfulness some have observed in his voice. At 17 Johnathan created a short (5-track album) at Fire Station Studios in San Marcos Texas. During that project he had the opportunity to work with Bobby Arnold, and accomplished sound producer who has worked with artists such as Willie Nelson and Ray Charles. Also featured on the album is recording artist Chris Kipp, who also assisted with production. The project, "Lost," was released in CD form on March 31, 2007 two months after Johnathan graduated high school.
After the release Johnathan had the opportunity to share a stage with various artists such as Sarah Jarosz, Carolyn Wonderland, and Mary Beth Carolan. Having jumped on the opportunity to perform in her presence, Johnathan was once flattered by the compliments of Sara Jaffe who continues to write, play, and sing beautiful music. Johnathan continues to make music as a hobbyist, and is currently working on collaborations with various artists.
