Under the musical influences of his mother (Angela) and sisters, Jimmy started his musical journey by using pots and pans to create his own style. As with all great pure vocalists, Jimmy grew up singing in the church where he established his roots. Jimmy’s cousin, the late Charles Gibbs served as his musical mentor. Charles taught Jimmy the pure synched harmonies and unique melodies you now experience when you hear him croon. Without taking any official music lessons, Jimmy is a fervent drummer, percussionist and pianist. He learned to play by ear. In addition to his melodic vocals, Jimmy exhibits his thespian talents and musical diversity, having stared in lead roles of Peter Pan, Aladdin, Grease, Wizard of Oz and Footloose. He entered (as the youngest artist) and finished third in the national talent search “Best New Talent,” held in Hollywood, where he performed a very soulful rendition of Brian McKnight’s “Still In Love With You,” and received a standing ovation. Currently a sophomore attending Delaware State University, Jimmy has opened for major artists including Usher, B5, and Musiq Soulchild to name a few. Jimmy has finished recording his debut project entitled “Perfect Stranger.” The first single “Perfect Stranger,” is currently receiving radio rotation in Philadelphia, Delaware, Baltimore and in Michigan.
