Jeff Travilla was born in Jackson, Michigan on April 24th, 1984. Music was almost a requirement in the Travilla household. In fact, the only "cure" for Jeff's colic as a baby was loud music blaring over the television. This love for music was fostered primarily by Jeff's father, Mark. At five, Jeff started piano lessons and quickly decided that he preferred listening to music, rather than practicing his piano lessons. At the age of thirteen, Mark asked his son how he felt about pawning off his old keyboard for an electric guitar. Obviously, the teenager agreed with this decision. The next year or two were spent with Jeff's family hiding in the living room, sometimes with earplugs, as Jeff sat in the den, teaching himself to play the guitar note for note. Jeff's sister says that they day Jeff decided to try singing was one of the worst days of her life. After a few years of trying to develop an already developing teenage voice, Jeff had honed his guitar playing, songwriting, and vocal ability to a point of finding his own creative voice. At age 18 Jeff started recording his original music in his dorm room at college, and has continued on the path of the late-night bedroom recording-studio ever since.
